How Did English Evolve?

Another excellent Ted-Ed video – The history of the English language still affects the connotation* of  particular words and phrases – a very important consideration for composition!

The English language is truly as checkered as the history of the island from which it grew!

*connotation: an idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning (Oxford Dictionaries)
